Collection: Leads
Which lead system suits your venue?
Choose for the lakebed and conditions, then check with the bailiff. Local venue rules govern lead use, permitted rigs, tubing and whether leads may be released.
- Inline, for clean, firm spots: A compact choice on clear gravel or hard bottoms. Deep silt can bury the lead and pull the hooklink down. Use a purpose-made inline lead and compatible components; the swivel leads linked here are not inline leads.
- Lead clip, for adaptable lake fishing: Use compatible components assembled to the manufacturer's instructions so the lead can release when needed, where venue rules allow. For slopes or flowing-water spots, consider 2oz Square Swivel Leads. A lead clip does not make an unsafe snaggy swim safe.
- Running, for open water and clear line paths: Useful where running rigs are required or a low-resistance setup is preferred. Check the line slides freely through suitable running components. Consider the compact WSB Dumpy Pear Swivel Lead 2oz, or the Flat Swivel Pear Lead 2.25oz for a flatter lakebed profile.
- Tubing, for venues that require it: An addition to a compatible lead setup, not a separate lead system. It can help reduce tangles and protect the fish's flanks, but does not replace a safe lead-release arrangement.
Match lead weight to your rod and conditions. Check the completed rig can free the fish from the lead if the main line breaks; ask the bailiff if unsure.
